A wonderful story about a skeleton detective.  There's lots of laughing coming from my room when I read these books.  There are 6 books in the series at the moment with another coming out soon.  I am on the fifth book which is the one in the picture.

If you like magic, adventure and detective stories, then these are the books for you.

  1. Hello Lexi. Love your blog. You are a good writer. Have you thought of doing any other blogs, maybe DVDs you like or television you like or even food and restaurants you like?

  2. Have you read the Alice books? Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There, by Lewis Carroll, starts with Alice talking to her cat Dinah. So it has the most important ingredient of stories you like (i.e. cats). Alice goes through a mirror into a magical world where she meets characters based on chess pieces. The whole story is set out a bit like a chess game, but not really.

In the first Alice book (there are 2) she meets characters from a deck of cards. There is another cat involved in this story, as well as other animals.

The books are a bit old fashioned (published 1865 and 1871) so the jokes have gone a bit stale. There are things in it that are not obvious now, for example, the Queen of Hearts was supposed to be like Queen Victoria (who you may know from the Dr Who episode with the werewolves). Also there is a lot of cruelty in the stories because in those days people were bad.

Overall they are magical adventure stories with animals including cats, so I think you might like them.
